Y’know… I don’t like it when people, even people I agree with use someone’s tragic death as a springboard to advance their personal agenda. At least, not when they do it too soon - like before the body is cold. I was seriously peeved when Answers in Genesis ran an article about Steve Irwin and evolution less than 24 hours after Steve died. And I like Answers in Genesis. Yesterday, not even six hours after Anna Nicole Smith died, FOXnews’ Dr. Manny was weighing in with his bizarre take on the cause of her passing….
But with Smith dying roughly five months after giving birth to her daughter, Danielynn Hope Marshall Stern, the tragic news also serves of a sad reminder of just how vulnerable to maternal death women in the United States still are. {…}
Did motherhood kill Anna Nicole Smith? Is it possible that her death was due to mental or physical complications related to giving birth to her daughter? Those are just some of the many medical questions that still need to be answered in this very sad case.
emphasis mine
I’m sorry? What?! MOTHERHOOD may have killed this woman? Are you kidding me?! And why would the death of this particular celebrity be deemed appropriate for a touching diatribe on how we need to be more aware of the dangers of pregnancy and childbirth?! Can someone please explain this to me?
At least he tossed in this paragraph at the end:
While the cause of Anna’s death is still unknown, her lifestyle was not. On Sept. 10, just days after Smith delivered her daughter, Smith’s 20-year-old son Daniel died in his mother’s hospital room in the Bahamas from apparently drug-related causes. At the very least, in the case of Anna Nicole Smith, the possibility that her death was also influenced by drugs cannot be excluded.
Oh… ALSO influenced. It was really that highly risky and questionable activity called motherhood - but yeah, maybe drugs helped a little too. Sheesh
