A few years back I got a rather startling phone call. It was the pastor of our church. Given that we were attending a rather large church, phone calls from the pastor were not exactly common. He told me that there had been a discussion of who would be a good leader for the 4th-6th grade children’s choir and my name had come up. I was honored, but not thrilled. I accepted the post because I figured Dr. Broggi knew what he was doing, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it. You see, I’ve never really liked kids. You may be looking at the photos across the top of this site and saying, “Beg Pardon?” Oh I like my own kids just fine - I had just never been keen on other people’s kids. Guiding fifty of them through the production of a Christmas musical (100 if you count the younger choir which joined us) was not my idea of a good time. Boy was I wrong! Not only did I have a ton of fun with those wonderful kids, I also found my heart towards children changed tremendously! (God is so cool!) I really enjoy being with the youth now, and much to my shock, they like me too! In our current church I help out with the high schoolers, and I love ‘em. But there are two young men from that first choir that are and always will be near and dear to my heart. For some strange reason, after I moved away from South Carolina these two Boogie Boys (as I called the coolest of the guys in the choir) have stayed in touch with me. Our emails are sporadic - but hearing from them always makes my day. Last summer they went on a two week mission trip to the Ukraine. This year they are going for a thirty day trip! My husband and I are proud to be numbered amongst their supporters. I interviewed them via email about their upcoming adventure, upon which they will embark this weekend! I’d like to share their answers with you. These young men never cease to amaze and inspire me with their love for the Lord, and their heart for the lost. (Plus they both have a great sense of humor!) If you have room on your prayer list, please remember them over the next month!
Allow me to introduce to you sixteen fifteen year old twin brothers Dustin and Brandon!
