Blest with sons

I guess I should be flattered…?

Okay, so I was feeling quite generous today and let my urchins munch on tortilla chips at lunchtime. (Tortilla chips are a precious commodity, don’tcha know) As I handed out the final plate I instructed my precocious progeny:

“Okay. Now everyone say ‘Mommy is the coolest!’”

“Mmyfy ifsth thuh cfoolefst” was the oldest’s reply, mumbled through a mouthful of chip.

Andrew chimed in next, “Yeah! Mommy is the coolest!!” But he didn’t stop there…

“No!!! Mommy is the hottest!!”

Oh….my.

  2. Blest,
I have been reading your blog weekly ever since coming across it a couple months ago. I am a newlywed finishing school and wanting to be a sahm when we begin having children. I just want you to know that your stories, honesty, and humor have made me EAGERLY anticipate those days ahead - as well as be reminded there are such great things to be learned when one has children. Thank you for sharing your gift of teaching and encouragement with so many people! I hope you are well - it seemed things have been hard recently from some of your posts. Oh, and I LOVED your repost on two perspectives for one day. It made me laugh aloud several times (not at your pain of course :) ).
A young woman who hopes someday to also be blest with sons, :)
    Andrea

  3. I say, “enjoy it while it lasts”. Those days of my son thinking I am literally the most beautiful (”hot”) woman in the world are gone now. *sigh..hee hee. Some days he still thinks I’m kinda cool though. Sorta=)

  5. Andrea…Wow! Thank you SO much. That is an incredible encouragement! And yes, I’m okay. Thanks for asking. I’ll post soon with some more detail of what’s been going on…

Everyone else -keep in mind that Andrew has no idea what he’s saying. He’s my little Aspie, remember? He just heard “coolest” and thought it would be fun to be contrary. But hey - it made me laugh!

  6. Boys are great. I have 3 of them. Wow, life isn’t dull around here.

This is actually a comment to a post I just read on your blog. It was the one about ADD and praying about medication. Let me tell you my husband and my 2 oldest boys are on a ADD/ADHD medicine. It has worked wonders in our family. My husband feels so much better now. Actual, he believes it was what helped him to read and understand his Bible so much more. See, he was a pastor for 8 years in a works-based church. God revealed his grace to us just within the last 2 years. My husband says over and over, “God showed me that it was okay to use medicine to help my brain work properly so he could reveal the gospel to me”.

Now, I’m not saying definately to take medicine. But, I for one and not one to say it is wrong. And I am a christian. I understand the decision is not easy, it took us over a year to decide to go ahead with it. We just prayed and read continually about the issue. Focus on the Family had a wonderful program on with Dr. Kevin Leman discussing ADD/ADHD and that is actually what prompted us to talk to the doctor and start researching info. We figured if James Dobson was addressing the issue, that it was a real issue. You kow how some like to say that ADD/ADHD doesn’t really exist. One last comment, I can’t imagine our life without the med, and my boys are doing so wonderful with school now. Top of their classes. God made doctors to help us.

Best wishes with what ever you decide. I’ll be praying for you.
